Dr. Kligman is a Diplomate of the American Board of Family Medicine and a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians. He is board-certified in Family Medicine. Dr. Kligman is also an ordained Interfaith Contemplative Minister possessing a Master of Divinity degree from Interfaith Theological Seminary.
Based on his extensive research in successful aging, Dr. Kligman practices “longevity medicine” integrating various complementary and alternative healing traditions with state of the art allopathic care.
Dr. Kligman served as Head of the Department of Family and Community Medicine at the University of Arizona from 1992-1995, and as Professor and Head of the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Iowa from 1995-1998, before returning to Tucson to enter private practice. At the University of Arizona, Dr. Kligman has served as an Attending Physician for the Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine, Co-Director of the Arizona Center on Aging, and Professor of Family and Community Medicine. He developed the Optimal Aging program at Canyon Ranch Health Resort, and was associate medical director of the inpatient unit at Casa de la Luz Hospice in Tucson from 2003-2012. He designed and served as medical director of Project Age Well, a 5- year longitudinal research study in healthy aging for Southern Arizona. He is also the founder and former medical director of Clinica Amistad, a free clinic in Tucson.
His seminary training and ordination by the Interfaith Theological Seminary deepened his awareness of the spiritual issues impacting one’s health and wellbeing, and redirected his own spiritual practice toward the healing work of hospice and care of the indigent.
